Message Notes-- January 7, 2018
Acts 2:42-47: "All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved."
What is God's Will for my life?
No clear-cut answer: we have to figure things out in the choices we make
We have an idea that finding God's will is like following a treasure map
We will make mistakes or negative decisions along the way
Romans 12:1-2: "And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."
1 Corinthians 5:16-18: "Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
God is more interested in who you are becoming than in your choices
God finds joy when you live a life of joy and praise
God delights in us when we live a life of love
Romans 12:4-6: "Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body.We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you."
